In addition to aesthetic considerations, safety must also be taken into account when choosing your table glass. Frequently glass table tops are used to protect furniture in high traffic areas, and some of the more commonly protected pieces of furniture are coffee tables, office desks, dining room tables, or meeting room tables. In most cases 1/4″ annealed glass is used over these wood surfaces; tempered glass is optional but not always recommended. If, however, a glass top is desired for a pedestal table where there is not a solid surface for the glass to rest on then tempered glass is recommended.
